Chad Markham

COO & Interim President and CEO, HSHS St. John's Hospital

Chad Markham, MBA is the HSHS Central Illinois Market Chief Operating Officer (COO) and currently serves as the Interim President and CEO of HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. Markham joined HSHS as the President and CEO at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham and HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville in 2021. He has over 25 years of progressive health care leadership experience, previously serving 12 years at Unity Point Health’s St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, where he was Senior Vice President for Clinics and Network Development from 2010 to 2019, and then Chief Operating Officer for two years.

In his current role as a Market COO with HSHS, Chad oversees operations for five hospitals in the central Illinois region. These include HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, and HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville.
