Sarah Phalen grew up in Sherman and is a Williamsville High School graduate. She received a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned an MBA form the University of Illinois Springfield. Sarah has 25 years of banking experience and is a Certified Treasury Professional.
Sarah is an original member of the management team that brought the second generation of INB (formerly Illinois National Bank) into the Springfield market. Employed by the bank since June 1999, she served as Senior Vice President overseeing all of the retail services, marketing, non-lending business services and compliance, and mortgage lending. The INB Board of Directors promoted her to President and CEO on Jan. 1, 2011. INB has since grown to a $1 billion organization with offices in Peoria, Bloomington and Champaign, IL and Chesterfield, MO in addition to headquarters and branch locations in Sangamon County.
In addition to her bank responsibilities, Sarah serves on the board of directors for multiple organizations including, the Hope Institute Foundation and SIU Healthcare. She is also Treasurer for the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum Foundation and Springfield Sangamon Growth Alliance.
