For more than 30 years, Ray Williams has provided leadership to some of the country’s largest and most successful health systems.
He began his health care career in 1984 with Sentara Healthcare, ranked for more than a decade by Modern Healthcare magazine as one of the nation’s top integrated health care systems. For the last 12 of his 25‐year career with Sentara, Ray led the Sentara Medical Group.
In 2009, Ray was recruited by Swedish Health, located in Renton, Washington, to serve as Senior Vice President of Physician Services. After merging with Providence Health & Services, he was responsible for the medical group, which totaled more than 2,000 physicians, in their five‐state markets.
Prior to joining Springfield Clinic as its Chief Execuve Officer in January 2017, Ray served as the Senior VP—Physician Mergers & Integration at International Council for Quality Care, Inc., a national consulting firm specializing in physician practice success. Ray also lead operations as the COO for Brown & Toland Medical Group in San Francisco before relocating to Springfield, Illinois.
Ray has created a strategic vision for Springfield Clinic, realigned the executive leadership team to support strategic initiatives, and cultivated regional health care partnerships, all of which has grown the multispecialty medical group into one of the largest private groups in Illinois.
A native of Norfolk, Virginia, Ray attended Old Dominion University and earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees.
